Burns Beginning Federal Way Link Extension For Sound Transit
Burns, as part of a team led by HDR, was recently selected by Seattle’s Sound Transit to complete preliminary engineering for the Final Environmental Impact Statement for the Federal Way Link Extension project: a planned light rail extension that will extend light rail from the future Angle Lake Station at South 200th in SeaTac, to Kent/Des Moines by 2023. The project also develops a shovel-ready plan for extending light rail to the Federal Way Transit Center when additional funding is secured. The 7.6 mile long corridor parallels SR 99 and Interstate 5, and has 3 proposed stations at Kent/Des Moines, South 272nd Street and Federal Way.
Burns will design electric traction power, overhead contact system, and signals and communications systems for the project. Burns is proud to help Sound Transit extend mass transit throughout the region!
