Burns Creating Conceptual Design for WMATA Bus Garage
Burns is currently leading the conceptual engineering for a prospective 250-bus service, maintenance, repair and storage facility to replace Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority’s (WMATA) aging and undersized Southern Bus Garage. The new facility will be near Andrews Air Force Base in Prince Georges County. The new site will accommodate the daily and periodic needs of the fleet of conventional and articulated buses, including fueling for both diesel and compressed natural gas powered vehicles. The work is being performed as part of a Design/Build contract which includes the furnishing of the real estate.
