Burns Performing Arc Flash Hazard Analysis with Philadelphia Gas Works
Burns Engineering will perform a complete arc flash hazard analysis of the electrical distribution system at the Richmond Compressed Natural Gas Plant for Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW). The project will incorporate the results into PGW’s existing safety plan and work with the plant to meet all of the latest OSHA and NFPA 70E guidelines regarding electrical safety in an industrial plant.
The analysis will include updating all of the plant’s single line diagrams to provide the plant’s staff with an accurate representation of the installed electrical system; determination of system operating modes and conditions that can impact short circuit currents and arc flash hazard energy levels; short circuit and equipment duty study to verify that equipment is rated to safely handle short circuit currents without creating hazardous conditions; protective device coordination study and review to help ensure proper electrical system reliability and to determine if arc flash hazard energy levels can be reduced; and arc flash hazard analysis study to determine arc flash energy levels and personal protective equipment (PPE).
