Burns Selected as Part of the MIA Mover Team at Miami International Airport

Miami-Dade County is constructing an Automated People Mover system to transport passengers between the airport terminals A, B, C, and D at Miami International Airport and the newly constructed Miami Inter-modal Center (MIC). It is estimated that once the MIA Mover is operational, 30% of current vehicular traffic will be removed from the roadways and passenger traffic at the terminal curb-fronts will also be reduced.

Burns is part of a design-build-operate and maintain team, headed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. The project includes the design and fit out for the APM guidance and power distribution systems. The APM system is being built on an elevated structure, approximately 1.25 miles in length, which traverses from the airport terminals to the MIC center, with a station at each end of the guideway
