Burns Selected for Photovoltaic Project at Santa Clarita, CA, Transit Maintenance Facility
The design-build team consisting of Stronghold Engineering, Inc. (Stronghold) and Burns Engineering, Inc. (Burns) was selected to design, furnish and install a new Photovoltaic System and Shade Structure for the Santa Clarita, CA Transit Maintenance Facility, a Federal Transit Authority (FTA) funded project.
Burns will provide electrical engineering and design services for the project, which will add photovoltaic (PV) modules on top of canopies, which will also provide shade for the City’s transit fleet. Additional modules will be placed on the roof of the bus wash building. The PV modules will generate enough electricity to offset up to 95% of the electric power consumed at the TMF site (52% of the agency’s total electric power).
Burns is very excited about this project, as it will help the City of Santa Clarita reduce their utility costs, as well as combat greenhouse gas emissions and global warming, and reduce our collective dependence on fossil fuel.
