Richard Simonetta and Allison Agliardo Join The Burns Group
Burns Engineering, Inc. is proud to announce the addition of Richard Simonetta and Allison Agliardo, PMP, RMP, to the company, continuing our commitment to project excellence and client satisfaction.
Rick joins Burns as a transit industry veteran with over 40 years of experience, 28 of which were spent as the CEO of five different transit systems, including Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA), the seventh largest transit system in the U.S. While at MARTA, Rick successfully led the organization in the planning and execution of transit services for the 1996 Summer Olympics, allowing MARTA to transport 25 million passengers over the course of 17 days. Rick also served as the CEO of Valley Metro Rail in Phoenix where he lead the effort to complete a 20-mile, $1.4B light rail line on-time and under budget. Rick is a former Chairman of the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), former Vice President for North America on the Executive Board of UITP, a global transport association, and a former President of State Transit Associations in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio and Arizona. He is the recipient of several prestigious APTA awards, including Transit Manager of the Year in 1997, Best Overall Transit System, and is a two-time winner of the Best Hiring and Promotion of Minorities and Women. Rick will be spearheading business development for Burns in the railroad and transit market.
Allison joins Burns with 15 years of experience in the planning, environmental review and implementation of transit-related projects for the public and private sectors of the transportation industry. Her experience includes 8 years with the Federal Transit Administration, where she provided technical expertise on mass transit policies and programs. Allison’s broad experience includes expertise in risk assessment, alternative project delivery methods, procurement and program management. She has worked with complex agency clients such as the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority, and New Jersey Transit. Allison joins the Burns Team as a Project Manager, and will be focused on oversight of the Phoenix Central Mesa Light Rail assignment. This project is a $200 million, 3.1-mile extension of the Central Phoenix/East Valley 20-mile light rail system. Currently in the design phase, the project will add 4 stations and is expected to be complete in 2016. Allison will also be involved with the Long Island Railroad Capital program, monitoring $400 million of Large Capital Projects and State of Good Repair Programs in the areas of track, signals and communications, traction power, bridges and other support infrastructure.
