Temple University Selects Burns to Design Central Boiler Plant for Main Campus

Burns Engineering, Inc. has been chosen by Temple to provide full engineering services for this 225,000 lb/hour steam plant replacement project, which includes replacing three boilers and the associated plumbing, piping, electrical, and control systems. The new boilers will provide reliable steam service for current and projected steam loads. Temple University’s Main Campus in North Central Philadelphia is one of Pennsylvania’s largest urban campuses. A central boiler plant serves the entire campus’ heating needs through an underground high pressure steam distribution system. The planned growth at Temple, which includes more than $400 million in new construction projects, in conjunction with the age and efficiency of the boilers, prompted Temple to replace the boilers.
