David Smith Participating in Smart Grid Workshop in Beijing

Dave Smith has been invited to participate in the US-China Climate Change Working Group’s (CCWG) Smart Grid Workshop, taking place November 4-5 in Beijing, China. At the workshop, energy experts from the US and China will discuss the development of smart grid technology, with the goal of enhancing communication and cooperation between the two countries in the areas of smart grid, energy efficiency, and system resiliency.

The CCWG Smart Grid Workshop is organized jointly by China’s National Energy Administration (NEA), the US Department of Energy (DOE) and the US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA). At the workshop, Dave will present for discussion the smart energy infrastructure and advanced microgrid that Burns, together with Alstom Grid, is designing and implementing at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. Seen by DOE and industry experts as a model for future energy infrastructure, The Navy Yard is modernizing and expanding its electric grid as the foundation for a Smart Energy Campus that will reduce energy consumption, lower emissions and enhance power reliability and resilience in preparation for significant real estate growth.

Dave has over 29 years of energy industry experience with a background in energy efficiency, onsite power, renewable energy, project finance, innovative technologies, sustainability, planning and public policy. Dave has spoken at many industry events and has been a guest lecturer at The Wharton School, the University of Pennsylvania and Green Mountain College, speaking on topics ranging from sustainable energy systems, smart grid, distributed energy, advanced microgrids and energy resilience.
