Shady Elshetwy Presenting At AAAE/ACC Airport Technologies Workshop

On Wednesday, August 26th at 1pm, Shady Elshetwy will participate in the “Trends in Airside Technology” panel at the 2015 AAAE/ACC Airport Technologies Workshop in Salt Lake City, Utah. During this session, Shady will discuss advances in the controllability of airfield lighting fixtures, the introduction of LED lighting technology for application in approach lighting systems, and automated airfield asset management. Chuck Dennie, PE, Project Manager in Burns’ Airfield Lighting Group, will moderate the session.

Shady has experience in both the civil and electrical aspects of airfield design and construction. Most recently, Shady presented “Operations and Maintenance Best Practices for LED Airfield Lighting” at the 2015 Airports Conference in Hershey, where he highlighted Burns’ FAA-funded research project, being conducted under the Transportation Research Board’s (TRB) Airport Cooperative Research Program, to investigate and develop best practices for the operation and maintenance of LED airfield lighting systems.

The AAAE/ACC Airport Technologies Workshop will present new insights and considerations related to effectively utilizing technology to help enhance airport operations and reduce costs. Subject matter experts will review technology applications, and discuss experiences and lessons learned in the selection, deployment and use of specific technologies employed to address issues at their respective airports.
