DRPA Upgrades Traction Power Distribution at PATCO’s Lindenwold Shop

Burns is helping the Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) upgrade their DC traction power distribution system at PATCO’s Lindenwold Shop. As part of their commitment to safety, DRPA and PATCO are redesigning the distribution system, as well as resectionalizing the shop, in order to minimize the hazards associated with exposed live parts during maintenance activities. As part of this project, we are reviewing existing documentation, verifying actual field conditions, and interviewing key maintenance and operations personnel to ensure we deliver a solution to meet DRPA’s objectives. We will present several design options based on the latest codes and standards, each utilizing the latest in safety, control and notification appliances.

This project is another step in DRPA’s effort to constantly improve their operations. In 2008, Burns provided design services for the resectionalizing of PATCO’s Lindenwold Yard, which provides the feeds to the shop’s DC traction power system, currently being redesigned.
