Burns Helps George Bush Intercontinental Airport Become a Five Star Global Gateway
Burns is currently leading the technology design for a completely rebuilt Terminal D at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH). This terminal will become the new Mickey Leland International Terminal, and is part of a $4 billion makeover at IAH. The new 800,000 square foot terminal will provide an enhanced passenger experience for both domestic and international flyers. Burns is leading the development of technology, security, and fire alarm systems for the new terminal in support of 18 operating airlines with 15 new gates, an 8-lane security checkpoint, and a 40,000 square foot Checked Baggage Reconciliation Area (CBRA). The design will be maintainable and robust with future growth in mind, will demonstrate a value for money invested, and will provide international passengers with a five-star global gateway experience.
