Burns Helps The College of New Jersey Renew Combined Heat and Power System

Burns recently completed design and construction phase services to renew The College of New Jersey’s (TCNJ) controls system for the campus’ existing combined heat and power (CHP) combustion turbine package. Burns assisted the original equipment manufacturer in removal of the existing unit control panel, replaced manifold piping to gas and liquid fuel modules, and was responsible for terminations/raceway for balance of plant wiring.  TCNJ’s CHP ground/lighting protection system and oil cooler were also upgraded as part of Burns’ design.

TCNJ’s upgraded CHP control system helps increase the college’s electrical capacity, provides improved reliability, complies with stricter air permitting regulations, and extends the life of the CHP system as a whole.
