David Smith Presenting on Resiliency Strategies for Airports at ACC Annual Conference

David Smith is speaking on leading-edge strategies to respond to and mitigate future crises at airports at the 2018 ACC Annual Conference, November 12-14 in Bermuda. Dave’s session – “Resiliency and Responsiveness – Keeping Your Airport Operational Come Hell or High Water” – will explore resiliency strategies and initiatives airports are undertaking to remain operational during natural or man-made disasters.

Dave recently participated in a panel discussion on airport microgrids and business continuity at the Microgrid 2018 Conference in Chicago. He also presented “The Path to Zero – How Microgrids Can Get You There” at the Airport Planning, Design & Construction Symposium in Denver earlier this year, where he explored how microgrids can help airports leverage renewable power and energy storage technologies to increase resilience, while also reducing energy costs and emissions.

As Burns’ Director of Energy Services, Dave has led the assessment and preliminary design of microgrids at JFK and Denver International Airports, and is currently serving as advisor to Pittsburgh International Airport as it evaluates the potential application of a microgrid and resilient on-site generation.
