SEPTA Positive Train Control Featured Innovative Smart Transportation Infrastructure Project

SEPTA’s Positive Train Control (PTC) has been highlighted as an “Innovative Smart Transportation Infrastructure” project in the March/April 2019 issue of Engineering, Inc.’s magazine. The SEPTA Regional Rail system is particularly complex, consisting of 13 rail lines and 155 stations that span 474 track miles, and provides service to and from Center City Philadelphia.
Burns Engineering served as systems integrator and lead for the wayside engineering for the project. SEPTA Regional Rail system became the first commuter railroad east of the Mississippi and the second in the nation to implement PTC on its Regional Rail system.
Burns is proud to have worked with SEPTA to improve their infrastructure. To read more about the project, check out the article in Engineering, Inc.
