May ElKhattab Receives ACEC/MW Young Professional of the Year Award

Burns takes great pride in congratulating May ElKhattab, PE, PMP, for receiving the American Council of Engineering Companies of Metropolitan Washington (ACEC/MW) Young Professional of the Year Award!

As a key project manager for our Washington, DC region, May has a proven track record of leading complex, design-build rail projects for our clients and improving the economically sustainable welfare of the Metropolitan Washington region. May has worked with clients such as WMATA, MTA Metro North Railroad and MBTA. She is currently serving as Project Manager for WMATA’s design-build Potomac Yard Metrorail Station project and is responsible for train control and safety systems, communications infrastructure, and electric traction power facilities for the station.

May’s passion for engineering is driven by the ability to transform ideas into realties that improve the livelihood of others. She enjoys working the rail industry because of the connectivity, accessibility, and opportunities that public transportation provides to communities.

Her volunteer work over the years, specifically with Engineers without Borders USA has also provided May the opportunity to give back. In 2018, she was involved in securing, creating, and managing a team for the design, procurement and construction of a water sanitation and hygiene (WaSH) program in Guatemala. The project consists of 13 miles of water conduction line and 16 miles of distribution network to over 750 people in more than 140 households.

As a proven leader and passionate engineer, we are excited to see what May continues to achieve in her engineering career!
