Nelson Long Joins Burns’ Healthcare Engineering Team

April 13, 2021

Burns builds upon our healthcare engineering expertise with the welcomed addition of Nelson Long, PE.

Joining our Orlando office, Nelson brings 25 years of mechanical engineering experience within the healthcare sector. Previous projects span from in-patient facility upgrades to central energy plant renovations to construction of new hospital campuses.

Nelson has established a strong reputation for his involvement in the comprehensive design of large-scale, complex healthcare environments and for his trusted oversight of continuous facility operations.

Recent projects include designs for an eight-story oncology tower, the phased expansion of a community hospital’s emergency department, and a comprehensive hospital lab renovation featuring one of Florida’s first active chilled beam cooling systems.

A Pennsylvania native and 12-year National Guard veteran, Nelson has called Central Florida home since relocating with his family in the mid-1990s. Nelson was drawn to Burns after admiring the team’s close collaboration with hospital ownership and facility teams.

“Building long-term relationships between our engineers and ownership is extremely important,” Nelson said. “To that end, every project matters — no matter how big or how small.”

As a Project Manager, Nelson is leading projects at Central Florida Regional Hospital, Blake Medical Center, Regional Medical Center of Bayonet Point, and Ocala Regional Medical Center.
