Burns Develops Fire-Protection Strategies for Multiple New York Hospitals
October 11, 2022

Burns is consulting multiple New York-based healthcare systems on strategies to upgrade their fire-protection systems.
Continuing Burns’ role as trusted hospital fire-protection system experts, the assessments spanned nearly 4-million square feet of campus buildings for four major hospitals in New York City and Long Island.
Design strategies identified as a result of the assessments involve:
- Expanding sprinkler coverage to meet current codes
- Upgrading fire pump equipment
Burns is supporting healthcare systems across New York comply with new fire-protection guidelines set by Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services (CMS). By 2028, CMS requires automatic sprinkler systems across all the country’s high-rise hospitals.
