Brandon Regional Hospital, Central Cooling and HVAC Improvements
Burns is providing study, analysis, and recommendations for the hospital’s aging central plant and HVAC system. Acting on those recommendations, the hospital tasked Burns to develop the design, construction, and commissioning plan for the much-needed plant improvements. Upon completion of the design, Burns represents the hospital as owners’ agent construction services for projects that improve the quality, reliability and efficiency of the Central Cooling Plant. Upgrades include two 1200-ton chillers, all new condenser water piping, all new cooling towers, and new 2400 GMP pumps, and the associated filtration, water treatment and electrical systems.
Burns was tasked with creating a new HVAC master plan to include all air flow improvement to 17 Operating Rooms, CT, Radiology, Cath Lab, Endoscopy and Laboratory areas. The plans consisted of design, phasing, and construction management services. Improvements replaced the hospital’s entire HVAC equipment, including new AHUs, exhaust fans, state-of-the-art smart building controls and new low temperature chillers. These improvements were completed with no interruption to the patient care, surgeries, or hospital operations.
