Positive Train Control System for Alaska Railroad

The Alaska Railroad Corporation (AKRR) is a full service railroad providing passenger and freight services within Alaska.

AKRR operates and maintains over 700 miles of track, serving communities from the ports of Seward and Whittier in South Central Alaska, north to Fairbanks in the interior. Burns is responsible for the design and construction a fully integrated Positive Train Control (PTC) system on the PTC Test Corridor which will consist of approximately 40 miles of main track and will include 5 dark territory sidings as well as 8 CTCControl Points. Also included in the test corridor is the Whittier Branch line, about 12 miles in length, consisting of 4 CTC Control Points and dark territory switch monitoring.
