Skidmore College, Student Dining Center
Skidmore’s Student Dining Center, originally designed and constructed in early 1960’s, required a change to its facilities and infrastructure in order to better serve students food service needs on campus.
The project included a complete renovation of the existing building including: removal of entire mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems; installation of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and fire protection systems to serve a maximum occupancy of 800 people; installation of a 6,000 sf commercial kitchen and dishwashing room; the addition of a 3500 sf two-story glass curtain wall enclosed atrium space on the front of the building; the addition of approximately 7500 sf of space as a second floor to the central low bay area of the building; and installation of 2 hydraulic elevators.
The newly renovated building provides students, faculty, and employees a modernized dining facility that serves as a focal point for the campus.
