Burns Readies Moffit McKinley Hospital for Imaging Capabilities Expansion

Burns is delivering engineering system designs to support Moffitt Cancer Center’s installation of additional diagnostic scanners at Tampa’s state-of-the-art Moffit McKinley Hospital.
When the inpatient surgical oncology hospital completed construction in 2023, the National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive care facility was built with an eye toward future expansion. At the time, Moffitt Cancer Center anticipated the need to accommodate a projected 33-percent increase in surgeries as Tampa Bay’s population grows over the coming decade.
Moffitt McKinley Hospital is equipped with intraoperative and diagnostic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners, nuclear medicine cameras, and a computed tomography (CT) scanner — with space for additional scanners as the hospital’s needs evolve.
Burns provided Ranon construction and LDCI architects with engineering design support to convert existing hospital space into an interventional radiology CT room. Burns’ scope includes mechanical, electrical, plumbing, low-voltage, medical gas, and fire protection design services.
