“Personal Data” means any piece of information which can be used to identify, directly or indirectly, an individual, but does not include data that is de-identified, anonymous, or publicly available.
We collect personal information from you when you fill out a contact form on our website. In addition, our web servers and online forms take note of your IP address and web browser type. This information may be used for website analysis, to detect problems with our service, to administer our website, and to collect broad demographic information. Demographic information is gathered in aggregate only and cannot be traced to an individual user.
We do not sell, trade or disclose any Personal Data to outside parties.
We use Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Reports are generated on website usage and web traffic using various methods such as cookies, web beacons and similar technologies to collect or receive information from this website to provide other services and ads.
Submitting contact information via our online contact form is voluntary. The contact form requires users to provide a name and an e-mail address. We periodically send email newsletters about Burns to persons who fill out the contact form and include an email address (e.g., company news, upcoming events, or other updates); visitors may opt-out of receiving these email newsletters by using the unsubscribe link contained in the e-mail.
Burns stores feedback that customers send to us. This feedback is used to administer and refine our website, and, at times, may be shared with our affiliates either in aggregate form or with specific identifying characteristics (e.g., e-mail address, name) removed.
Consistent with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998, we will never knowingly request personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13 without prior verifiable parental consent. If we become aware that a subscriber is under the age of 13 and has signed up without prior verifiable parental consent, we will remove his or her personally identifiable information from our files.
If you are a European Economic Area (EEA) resident, please note therefore that when you provide information to us (or a third party on our behalf) it may accordingly be accessed and used in countries outside of the EEA. In relation to such transfers, you acknowledge that you have been made aware that: (i) some countries outside the EEA provide levels of protection of Personal Data which are substantially inferior than those of countries within the EEA and (ii) in respect of such countries it is possible that this Personal Data might be intercepted and accessed by governmental and other authorities/agencies in those countries.
By submitting your Personal Data to us, you consent to this transfer, storing or processing.
Where your Personal Data is processed outside the EEA without your express consent (for example, to provide services to you or where we are mandated to do so at law), we are required to ensure a level of data protection at least as protective as those mandated by the EEA.
Burns believes that customer’s private communications in e-mail and other methods of communication should remain confidential. Burns does not read or disclose private communications unless ordered to do so through a valid legal mechanism such as a search warrant, subpoena or court order, to protect the company’s rights and property, or during emergencies when we believe physical safety is at risk. Also, keep in mind that Burns is not responsible for what other users may do with private communications you’ve had with them.
We will put in place commercially reasonable and appropriate security measures to prevent your Personal Data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorized way, altered or disclosed. We also limit access to your Personal Data to those employees, agents, third party service providers and other third parties who have a business need to know. They will only process your Personal Data on our instructions, and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality.
