Confidential Client, Colocated Data Center Utility Expansion

Burns provided 10MW of additional power and the associated chilled water systems to a co-located data center in Texas that is preparing for next-generation workloads.

A client that provides premium data center co-location services in state-of-the art facilities engaged our Power and Utilities team in the design and implementation of critical infrastructure upgrades including generators, chillers, and expanded electrical capacity to ensure the site of their latest data center is prepared to meet the demands of an AI-powered future. Our full scope of work included MEP and permitting drawings for capacity upgrades, utility coordination for an additional 10 MW of service, and upgrades to fire protection, BMS, and security systems to support the new equipment space. We also made modifications to the existing switchgear to accommodate additional UPS power.

An upgrade that will add 15MW of additional power is currently in the design phase.

An AI-powered future is here, and this project illustrates how Burns delivers expertly tailored the best solutions to handle its intense power demands for our clients, ultimately maximizing the societal benefits of this technology.
