Burns has been engaged to support NJ TRANSIT in important improvements to Positive Train Control (PTC) at Kearny Junction Interlocking and across the Northeast Corridor related to the replacement of Portal Bridge.

This project will include:

Reconfiguration of ACSES transponder sets on Tracks 5 and 6 at Kearny Junction
Updates to the Kearny Junction Wayside Interface Unit (WIU) application on the Morristown Line
Coordination of design inputs for the Safety TSR Server with a third-party vendor

The Burns team is responsible for the design and testing of ACSES PTC transponder and WIU updates in accordance with NJ TRANSIT and industry standards. The project also includes system integration and coordination with NJ TRANSIT’s other departments and Amtrak. The coordination between NJ TRANSIT and Amtrak’s PTC updates must be made in parallel for each cutover during the duration of the project.

Working collaboratively with NJ TRANSIT and Amtrak, we are executing this effort through disciplined project management, clear communication, and adherence to an approved baseline schedule and will deliver a safe, reliable, and fully integrated PTC solution.
