April 6, 2026

Burns has been selected by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) to provide structural, civil, and Automatic Train Control (ATC) engineering services for the K99 Yard Rehabilitation project at the West Falls Church Yard. The project includes replacement of ATC wayside cables, cable troughs, and branch conduits across Yard Zones 1 through 4, as well as snowmelter cases, trackside appurtenances, and selected switch machines within the yard and at the mainline yard lead boundary. The scope also includes replacement of the existing K99 Yard Control System, including non-vital relay logic, interface modules, and life-expired HMI tower servers, workstations, and monitors.

The project is scheduled for completion in 2028.
