Burns Engineers Leading IEEE PES/IAS Joint Chapter In Philadelphia
Jonathan Schimpf, PE, an Electrical Engineer with The Burns Group, was recently named Chair of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers’ (IEEE) Power & Energy and Industrial Application Society (PES/IAS) Joint Chapter in Philadelphia. This Chapter represents members of both the Power and Energy Society and the Industrial Applications Society within the IEEE. As Chair, Jonathan will help secure keynote speakers and coordinate networking opportunities that will allow members to explore current topics and share issues facing the electrical engineering community.
With Burns for 8 years, Jonathan has specialized electrical engineering design experience with railroad and transit projects, including AC and DC traction power substation design, electrical distribution system design, traction power simulations, catenary system design, and project construction oversight. He has extensive experience with Amtrak’s 12 kV and 138 kV power systems, and is currently designing the 750 VDC traction power system for automated people movers at Orlando International Airport and Tampa International Airport.
Stanley “Staś” Muzylowski, an Electrical Associate with Burns, was also recently named Secretary of this Chapter. With Burns for almost 2 years, Staś has specialized electrical engineering design experience for railroad and transit projects, with a focus on ground grid design, lighting and power distribution design, electronic security design, project cost estimation, and project phasing and sequencing.
Congratulations to both Jonathan and Staś on their new positions within the Chapter. Burns is proud of your leadership within the engineering community!
