Burns Entrusted to Lead Security Upgrades at Dallas Ft. Worth International Airport

August 16, 2021

Dallas Ft. Worth International Airport (DFW) selected Burns this month to lead an upgrade of the airport’s access control system, further expanding our presence in Texas and strengthening our well-established role as trusted aviation security experts.

Burns will lead design of an enterprise-wide automated access control system upgrade for DFW, balancing operational, regulatory and life-safety goals. The six-year, $15-million professional services contract builds upon on-going security consulting services performed at DFW, where Burns is currently developing an airport-wide Security Master Plan and related Security Design Criteria.

Continuing our commitment with local business partners, Burns is expecting to exceed the contract’s minimum requirement for Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) involvement.

Access control system design requires comprehensive understanding of airport facility credentialing, video surveillance and incident management reporting technologies. Previous project experience includes security system upgrades and expansions for Los Angeles World AirportsHouston Airport System and Allegheny County Airport Authority.
