Newark Liberty International Airport’s New Terminal A Advances to Commissioning Stage

Redevelopment of Newark Liberty International Airport’s new 33-gate New Terminal A is progressing to the final stage of construction.
The largest New Jersey project ever undertaken by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ), New Terminal A will replace the oldest terminal on the airport campus with a world-class, 1-million-square foot, LEED® Silver certified facility.
Consistent with PANYNJ standards and LEED®-certification requirements, on-going commissioning practices support the design-build team to achieve the project’s sustainability targets. Integrated, consistent commissioning practices help to ensure high-performance buildings are constructed with techniques that deliver energy efficiency benefits once operational.
As the PANYNJ commissioning authority, Burns provides third-party oversight. Our role involves auditing the terminal energy model, reviewing system designs, and verifying overall function and performance.
