Trenton-Mercer Airport, Trenton Terminal

Burns teams are currently engaged in a project for a new, three-level, 125,000 SF terminal at Trenton-Mercer Airport that will provide state-of-the-art passenger experience and mechanical and electrical systems improvements for the third busiest airport in New Jersey.

The new Trenton-Mercer Airport Terminal will feature four Group III aircraft gates to support commercial air service, replacing the current terminal infrastructure. In addition to improved gate capacity, the project includes new concessions, administrative offices, a companion care adult changing room, a lactation room, a pet relief room, and a sensory room with a wide range of visual and tactile objects and surfaces to provide a calming and controlled environment for children and adults.

Our firm is providing a wide range of critical services for this project. Our staff of planners, engineers, and managers have provided civil engineering design for the apron and airfield, landside roadway and parking lot, and site utilities. We are also responsible for construction phasing and scheduling, IT and security system design, TSA screening and checkpoint layout and coordination with permitting agencies, local municipalities, the FAA, TSA, and other key stakeholders.

The design of the terminal is expected to be completed in 2026, and construction is anticipated to be completed in 2030.
