Jonathan Schimpf Promoted to Railroad and Transit Project Manager
Jonathan Schimpf, PE, was recently promoted to Project Manager in Burns’ Railroad and Transit Group! Jonathan has been with Burns for 11 years, specializing in AC and DC traction power substation design, electrical distribution system design, traction power modeling and simulations, catenary system design, and project construction oversight. He has extensive experience with Amtrak’s 12 kV, 25 kV, and 138 kV power systems, as well as 750 VDC transit and light rail power systems and 60 Hz utility distribution.
In his new role as Project Manager, Jonathan will lead Burns’ Traction Power Team on current and future projects for important, long-term clients like Amtrak, SEPTA, and DRPA/PATCO. He will also maintain his position as a technical lead, as he continues his post-graduate studies in Electrical (Power) Engineering at Drexel University.
