Burns is leading building system designs for a high-efficiency, all-electric Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC) regional office in Centre County.

PGC oversees management programs that protect and conserve Commonwealth wildlife. The new Northcentral Regional Office will provide a centralized training and meeting location as well as a destination for the public to learn about Pennsylvania’s rich wildlife resources.

Features of the new regional office include:

  • Vertical, closed-loop ground heat exchangers and water-sourced heat pumps
  • State-of-the-art meeting rooms, creating a modern teaching environment for wildlife education
  • High-efficiency building upgrades, achieving a 10-percent reduction in energy consumption over standard building codes
  • Vehicle charging infrastructure

The North Central Regional Office will comply with Pennsylvania Executive Order 2019-01. The mandate requires agencies reduce energy consumption 3 percent each year and lower greenhouse gas emissions 80 percent below 2005 levels by 2050.

Burns is supporting Converse Winkler Architecture as the engineer of record. Design services include:

  • Mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems
  • Fire protection and fire alarm systems
  • Communications and technology systems
  • Security systems
