April 27, 2023

Burns marks expansion of Mid-Atlantic operations, moving into a state-of-the-art office in Downtown Washington, D.C.

Our Washington, D.C. office remains conveniently located in the bustling Capitol Riverfront neighborhood across Metro’s Navy Yard station. Recently renovated 80 M Street, SE has received LEED Gold certification and accolades as North America’s first high-rise structure featuring a vertical extension constructed with mass timber. Amenities include a new luxury fitness center and stunning views from the penthouse terrace.

“Burns’ expansion is a testament to our team’s ability to deliver larger, more-complex engineering projects for mission-critical clients across the Greater Washington region,” said Derek Brown, Director, Washington, D.C. region. “Our new office provides the team with much-needed room for growth, while fostering a collaborative environment essential for on-going success. Even better, the office itself is an inspiring example of innovative, high-performance building design.”

In recent years, Burns broadened our multidisciplinary capabilities, supporting railroad, transit agency, aviation, and institutional clients throughout the region with specialized design, construction, and system integration services.

Current railroad and transit projects include new and expanded stations, advanced fiber communications infrastructure, and next-generation train control systems. Burns’ engineering services support our clients transition to zero-emission fleets, maintain safe and reliable facilities, and deliver complex capital programs.

In addition, our team of aviation technology and airfield experts are proud to support infrastructure advancements across the region. Recent work include projects at Baltimore-Washington International/Thurgood Marshall Airport, Dulles International Airport, and Reagan National Airport.
