Newark Liberty International Airport is nearing completion of New Terminal A.

The $2.7-billion redevelopment program replaced the airport’s oldest terminal with a modern, 1-million-square-foot facility complete with state-of-the-art technology amenities.

Serving as the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) owner’s representative, Burns supported PANYNJ with realizing their vision of creating an exceptional, distinctive passenger experience. Burns oversaw the design and implementation of evocative new multimedia, inspirational art, and world-class passenger technologies.

Burns’ role included:

  • Engineer-of-record for the airport’s experiential multimedia systems
  • Design of the media installations’ supporting structural, electrical and technology systems
  • Technical review of equipment selections and infrastructure configuration
  • Advisory services to integrate the content delivery system

Burns provided full-service engineering subject matter expertise for PANYNJ throughout the project’s development. Additionally, Burns fulfilled structural, MEP, and special-systems design roles as part of the PGAL-led design team.
