Burns’ Rail and Transit Team Helped the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) Modernize Its Communication Systems

Burns is providing comprehensive design and engineering services to support GCRTA’s effort to modernize communication systems along the Green and Blue Lines. GCRTA is seeking to install new fiber optic infrastructure that integrates with existing systems on its other lines.

Burns’ work includes assessments of current communication infrastructure, stakeholder interviews to identify and prioritize needs, site inspections, code analysis, and preparation of detailed design documents and cost estimates. During the design phase, Burns developed preliminary and detailed cost estimates, construction schedules, engineering drawings, specifications, and other comprehensive design documents.

The fiber optic project is ongoing, and Burns will continue providing bidding-phase and construction-related support to assist with successful project execution and seamless integration with existing systems. Once complete, the project will enhance communication reliability, support integration with GCRTA’s existing infrastructure, and provide a foundation for future technology upgrades and operational efficiency.
