Burns Supports Austin’s Airport Expansion and Development Program

March 3, 2025

Burns is supporting Austin-Bergstrom International Airport’s campus-wide utility infrastructure redevelopment program.

Austin has one of the fastest-growing airports in the country. In 2023 the city experienced a record 22 million passengers, more than double the 2012 passenger count. The city’s Airport Expansion and Development Program increases capacity while advancing sustainability efforts, energy efficiency, connectivity, and traveler comfort.

Joining an HDR-led team, Burns is contributing to the planning and design of critical electrical infrastructure for Austin’s Utility Infrastructure Campus-Wide (UICW) project. Planning and design services will focus on infrastructure serving the new Central Utility Plant, Concourse B addition, and Arrivals and Departures (A/D) Hall, as well as the expansion’s associated airfield infrastructure, passenger tunnel, and supporting utilities.
