To accommodate relocation needs created by the renovation of David Rittenhouse Laboratory and the ongoing construction of the new, $520M, 352,000 SF Physical Sciences Building, the University of Pennsylvania is undertaking a renovation of portions of the Translational Research Laboratory (TRL) to provide swing space for the School of Arts and Sciences. The renovation includes approximately 35,000 GSF across the ground and second floors and is intended to support research functions for the Departments of High Energy Physics, Astrophysics and Cosmology, and Condensed Matter. The project will adapt existing laboratory and support spaces while maintaining the current test fit and utilizing existing building systems, with supplemental systems added as required to meet environmental control requirements.
Burns will provide professional engineering services including mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, electrical, and fire alarm design for renovation of laboratory and support spaces within TRL.
