Congratulations to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ), recipient of a 2022 Leading Capital Construction Project award!

The New Jersey Alliance for Action each year recognizes innovative and landmark construction initiatives that improve the state’s economy. Burns was among the PANYNJ partners honored for the successful rehabilitation of Newark Liberty International Airport Runway 4R-22L, the airport’s primary runway.

As the electrical engineer of record, Burns led design of the airfield ground lighting systems and provided on-site inspection services during installation of temporary and permanent lighting systems. Burns consulted PANYNJ throughout construction of a temporary runway that effectively minimized operational disruptions.

The runway-closure portion of the $84.2 million capital project wrapped up in September, completing five days ahead of schedule.
