The University of Pennsylvania recently completed a $42.5-million critical infrastructure renovation at the Laboratory for Research on the Structure of Matter (LRSM).
The project involved major overhauls of the world-class materials research center’s electrical and mechanical systems, resulting in significant improvements to the building’s energy efficiency, lighting quality, and overall comfort.
Burns served as the project’s engineer of record, overseeing replacement of the interdisciplinary laboratory’s sensitive ventilation system and critical power distribution infrastructure as well as installation of new energy-recovery and building-wide controls systems.
