Burns Leads Facility Designs for Newark Liberty Airport’s American Express Lounge

American Express has begun construction on the largest airport lounge in their Global Lounge Collection.
The Centurion Lounge at Newark Liberty International Airport is an amenity-rich addition for world-class Terminal A, which completed construction earlier this year. The 18,000-square-foot lounge is the centerpiece of a 50,000-square-foot terminal extension.
Burns is proud to support PGAL as engineer of record on the terminal extension. Engineering services include:
- Mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection
- Life safety and information technology
- Security and special systems
- Structural, including superstructure, foundations, and geotechnical designs
Plans for the Centurion Lounge include a speakeasy-themed cocktail bar and multiple top-tier restaurants. The terminal extension also provides new office space for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
Construction is scheduled to complete by 2026.
